Sherbet is a set of pastel mahjong tiles where the color runs through the whole tile, not only across the face. Each tile has a glossy white face with rounded corners, then a mint band, a peach band and a solid butter yellow back with no print. Set a row of tiles on edge and you see three soft stripes under the white. Build the wall face down and the table turns pale yellow. The palette shows whether the tiles are face up, face down or standing in front of you.
The dots are concentric rings in magenta, blue, teal, peach and lilac. The bams are green and yellow bamboo stalks with small leaves, and the 1-Bam is a peacock. The craks use formal Chinese numerals, from 壹 for one to 玖 for nine, drawn in coral, pink and lilac. Every suit tile also carries a small Arabic numeral in its top corner. The two suit dragons are lion-dance heads labelled BAM and CRAK, and the soap is an ornate octagon frame. The winds are tall N, E, W and S letters, each with a small arrow above it. The eight flowers are lotus blossoms with green leaves, in warm pink-orange and cool blue-purple versions, with no numbers. The jokers are lotus buds with JOKER written below: five in purple and pink with blue lettering, five in orange and yellow with lilac lettering.
That is the 152 tiles an American game is played with, plus two extra jokers and six blanks you can keep as spares. There are no season tiles.
The maker lists the tiles at about 32 mm (1.26 in) but gives no width or thickness, so check the fit before pairing them with racks you already own. The tiles are listed as acrylic, and the maker describes the pattern as engraved. The inks are soft by design, and the lilac craks for 4, 5 and 6 are the palest tiles in the set. Wipe the tiles with a soft cloth, lightly dampened if needed, and avoid solvents and long hours in direct sun.

Read at a glance
Nobody wants to squint at their own hand. Faces that carry across the table, so the game moves and nobody has to ask.
Weight you'll notice
The difference between a tile you tolerate and a tile you reach for is in your fingers. Heavier tiles shuffle better and stack straighter.
Match your mat
Tiles set the palette for everything else on the table. Pick the ones you want to build around.
The listing covers 160 tiles: 36 dots, 36 bams, 36 craks, 16 winds, 12 dragons, 8 flowers, 10 jokers and 6 blanks. That is the 152 tiles an American game uses, plus two spare jokers and six blanks. No case, bag, racks, pushers, dice or rules guide are listed. A clear rack appears in one of the maker's photos, but it is not listed as part of the set. The National Mah Jongg League card is not included either; the League publishes a new card each year.
There are 10 jokers, all drawn as a lotus bud with JOKER written beneath. Five are purple and pink with blue lettering, and five are orange and yellow with lilac lettering. The shape is the same on all ten, so any of them reads as a joker at a glance; only the palette changes. A standard American game uses 8 jokers, so you have two extras to keep aside as spares or to bring in if your group plays with more.
From the side, every tile shows four layers: the white face, then mint, peach and a butter yellow back. The back is a solid pale yellow with no print, and the faces and backs are glossy. Soft colors like these can look slightly different from one screen to another, and pastel inks can vary a little, so treat the photos as a close guide rather than an exact color match. The overall look stays light and warm rather than bright.
Mostly, with one caveat worth knowing. Every dot, bam and crak has a small Arabic numeral in its top corner, the dragons are labelled BAM and CRAK, and the winds are tall letters, which all help newer players. The flowers are not numbered, which does not matter in American play, where any flower counts as a flower. The craks are drawn in soft coral, pink and lilac, and the lilac 4, 5 and 6 craks are the palest tiles in the set, so good table light helps.
A mahjong set is handled more than almost anything else in the house: every tile passes through four pairs of hands, several times a game.
That is what we select for. Tiles that read clearly from the far side of the table, edges that stay clean, and a case that still closes after a few seasons of being carried around.
Sets differ in ways that only show at the table: the weight of a tile in the hand, how a crak reads from three seats away, whether the case survives the trip to a friend’s house.
When we have the figures, we publish them: tile count, tile size, weight and material. When we do not have one, we leave it out rather than guess.
